Minor Arcana — Ten of Pentacles

Upright

July 2026: Your cup is full — You have learned to think about success not as an individual thing you must hoard, but to think about your place in community. You found what’s been missing, you figured out where to go deeper. This is generational wealth. Not just in terms of finances, but in terms of knowing how to take care of both yourself and others, so that you have a loving network to share your wealth with.

Reversals

July 2026: This has come up surprisingly often in readings where my querent has just gotten a divorce or ended a long-term relationship. I’m not saying that this card specifically indicates either of those things, just that it’s a pattern I’ve noticed in the readings I give. When this is the case, there is anger and bitterness here. A sense of all that you’ve worked for and invested in slipping through your fingers — perhaps even being taken from you. This can indicate a time of reeling from financial instability or even recklessness.

+ Added October 2026: I’ve also seen this card come up in readings where someone is about to graduate from college and is feeling anxious. They had worked hard to attain high positions within their extra-curricular organizations, and now they were on the brink of being spit out as a beginner once again. That’s the thing about the Tens: they are both the end of a cycle, and a rebirth. Another example of how this card has come up in readings I’ve given is in the case of someone who had a vision for their future, but someone else’s plans altered the timeline and they didn’t feel ready. It was the completion of a cycle, and it wasn’t exactly ending in the way they had planned.

The through line for all these examples of the energy the Ten of Pentacles Reversed carries is that it’s a feeling of having put in the work while somehow still feeling like a beginner. It’s a frustrating juxtaposition that causes topsy turvy feelings. It can be a scary time in one’s life, marked by a sense of financial insecurity and a feeling that one needs to buckle down. The earth feels shaky, ungrounded.

That being said, I don’t feel that a reversal completely erases the energy of the upright card. For the Ten of Pentacles, I think it’s important to remember that the work you put in wasn’t all for naught. It was still valuable, it still contributed to the growth of your abundance and it will still pay off in the end. There may be some healing necessary before you see the return on your investments, but they already exist in the ether. Take some time to ground yourself and to consider the multitude of ways abundance shows up in your life beyond the financial.
